It was around that time that our filmmaker’s multicultural documentaries
started gaining audiences and paid opportunities presented themselves,
but the mandates were still cultural and educational in nature.

Informed about George’s film by a Huffington Post reporter, the manager of a nearby hotel
watched To My Children. À mes enfants. and she found it really touching.

💡 Interested in the full backstory?
Our agency was founded by George Karkour, a creative Syrian-Canadian documentary filmmaker whose media adventures began in his early twenties.
Documentary filmmaking was his introduction to the world of media, to the world of humanities and to so many cultures and communities in our country. Back then, he was exceptionally thirsty for knowledge and adventure, and documentary filmmaking allowed him to explore, and even learn about himself.
Much like its founder, OK George! Studio embraces Montreal’s diversity and multiculturalism. He’s filmed St. Patrick’s Parade on Saint Catherine Street, Gay Pride Parade on René Lévesque Street, the Just For Laughs comedy festival and the International Jazz Festival at the Quartier des Spectacles. This diversity of event coverage is reflective of our agency’s clientele diversity.
We’ve sat down with Syrian refugees and talked about their hopes and concerns. We’ve interviewed practitioners of the Sikh faith in Lasalle’s Sign Gurdwaras, the Muslim faith at the World Religion Museum in Nicolet, and members of the Jewish faith at the Shaare Zedek Congregation Synagogue.
We’ve documented the reality of LGBTQ families and captured beautiful moments of parents with their children. We’ve filmed neuroscientists, doctors, CEOs and politicians.
OK George! Studio is a studio for everyone. We welcome people of every faith, every philosophy, every profession and every industry. You could be anything and everything, and there will be a story to tell and something to film.
We will give you a voice.
